Now this is fun. I just did my grocery round and had a very special experience at Cost-U-Less:

From the radio news I gathered that some technical SNAFU is haunting the FEA (power company) and certain areas are under “rolling black-outs”, which means 2 hours you have electricity, 2 hours you don’t. I am VERY happy that it has not affected our area (yet, knock on wood)
Anyways … seems that Cost-U-Less at least has a back up generator for some emergency lights and to keep the fridges and freezers running …
First of all, how come some anonymous millionaire did not fly me to some oscar party in LA .. heck, even AU or Wellington would have been fun .. ah well ..
Big congrats to Return of the King .. clean slate of 11 noms and 11 golden barbie dolls taken home … reminded me of ‘Last emperor‘ they had 9 noms and 9 home runs … there are 2 other movies with 11 statues .. Ben Hur(which had one nomination more) and Titanic (which had 3 noms it did not get) … can someone please kick Titanic’s ass sometime soon?
While I have not really seen the show … I liked that opening song “favourite things / lord of the rings” skit … all the others made litte – no sense without images … If anyone finds an MP3 of that song … thank you:)
I would have loved to see Keisha Castle-Hughes, the girl from Whale Rider win … but then again, to get an Oscar nom for a first time role at that young age is pretty kick ass … Also .. I have not seen “Monster” yet .. so .. i cannot comment really on that performance .. seems it was deserved …
As for leading man … I would have loved to have Bill Murray get it … but then again I would have loved to hear an accaptence speech by Jonny Depp .. well .. both did not happen … no idea how good or bad Sean Penn was …
I hope I can catch a rerun some time soon …
