Okonomiyaki & Monjayaki with Uta-chan

Like every year, we try to meet up with our friend Utako.

This time we met in Asakusa to have some okonomiyaki (which we had last about a year ago in Kyoto) and for the first time I got to play with and eat monjayaki. We also had some yakisoba.

What I really like about these kind of places: you get to prepare the food yourself at the table. Only for the monja we asked the waiter to show us how to do it (there were instructions in the menu, but it looked rather complicated) … the waiter also very skillfully created a very thin skin of the excess batter which then turned into one giant crispy chip, with lots of flavor.
