Moving Day !

The big day has finally come!

I have not said anything here on the blog yet because things were hectic … but we are moving once again. The noise of our friendly neighborhood church is reason enough to get long ears when one hears that someone else in the area (but far away from the church) is leaving pretty much exactly when our current lease is ending.

So, it is just 1 km away, but it still means packing up everything, I have been moving boxes by the car load the whole week already, yesterday the movers came to wrap the big items & the fragile kitchen ware and today the truck is coming … let’s hope everything goes well.

While the new house is overall smaller and less palast-y then the house we leave behind (but hey, what good is a steam shower with radio or a 2 person jacuzzi bath with disco lights, when water temperature and pressure are too little to be useful?), it has tons of rooms, a swing set in the garden (for which I still have to find swings) and a huge terrace.

Once the move is done we start the wonderful game of ‘what is in which box!

Hi there..I just wanted to say thank you for this wonderful blog..I have been following along for about 5 years and living vicariously thru your many moves all over the world..what a fabulous life! I don’t know how you do it, packing and unpacking and all the different schools, etc, but your time is well spent sharing your life and your family. It is so interesting to watch your son grow up all over the world, I never know what is going to happen next! Looking forward to your next post.

Hey Cynthia, and thanks for de-lurking … ever since I lost my old blog template about 2 years ago I have never gotten around to implement new tracking tools … so I never really know who and from where is visiting … maybe I need to get working on that again, but the connection here is just really bad … And as you can read in the post … this move is not THAT spectacular … we are staying in the same country, same city … which makes the move a bit easier .. but still a lot of work … I might post pictures of the new house later … keep commenting .. makes blogging more fun!

It is still interesting to hear you talk about the various conditions/restrictions/good things where ever you are visiting. I really enjoy international travel (I live in Los Angeles) so visiting your blog and watching you move all over gives me a taste of what family life is like in so many varied places..I admire how quickly your family seems to adjust to each new place..your son has gone to so many schools and has had to say hello and goodbye to so many friends..I can imagine there is both good and some sad to this. It gives me an idea of what life is like not from a reporter or journalist’s point of view but a family’s every day life point of view. The food, the children, the differences in culture. Trust me, your many years of keeping track of all of this is well worth it..what a treasure trove Julius will have to look back on as you have so well documented his life and I hope continue to do so.

Well…here’s a shout out from me, Peter….still also enjoying your blog, like Cynthia……I’ve loved the travels, the food, I was “here” before and after the birth of Julius….how long has it been? Like Cynthia, I am in awe that you can move from country to country and still maintain a “normal” family life! Kudos to you…..and yes, please post more pictures of your neighborhood…….if you can.
