Homework in the dark

Today we have been plagued blessed with 9 (NINE!) power outs. As far as I know of, might have been more while I was out of the house.

Every time that happens I have to fumble around with my USB hub to get all my external computer devices up and running again … sometimes the power came back for an hour, sometimes just for minutes.

Great when you have a load of laundry somewhere in the middle of its cycle, or rice in the cooker or something in the microwave.

So, while Julius was trying to do his reading by candle light, I tried cooking in the dark.

Don’t you have some sort of UPS backup? Just curious how you manage fresh food in your fridge with this kind of stuff…

I have had several discussions / inquiries in this direction, and even local tech people stay away from UPSs sold here (and they are darn heavy to bring in suitcase), some person has allegedly some inverter solution that was set up by her company. Many others have generators, but those are loud and stinky … luckily so far the power outs have never been so long that I had to worry about food … but it has crossed my mind, especially recently when I heard that one area had 4 days without power …
